MWEB Nigeria is a Nigerian registered company and a joint venture with local Nigerian entrepreneurs. MWEB Nigeria was launched in June 2003 in Lagos. FSD reduces the effects of the poor quality of the local telecommunications infrastructures. In March 2004, MWEB Nigeria launched its MWEB VSAT product range, which are bi-directional, always on satellite services, completely bypassing the poor local telecommunication infrastructures.
It is a Direct-to-User (DTU services). MWEB VSAT products include connectivity options in shared, Committed Information Rate (CIR) and dedicated bandwidth and are specifically tailored for the Home, SMME, SOHO, large Corporates and Cyber Café markets. MWEB VSAT fulfil just about any requirements for connectivity and data transfer, including voice priorities. In October 2004 MWEB Nigeria launched its traditional dial-up services with the MWEB Internet Card.
