Calvo Mawela: GM - Regulatory Affairs (High Res pic to be loaded 1/3/07

Calvo Mawela holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering (1999 ) from University of KwaZulu Natal ( ex University of Dbn Westville ). He joined Sentech in 2000 as an RF Engineer. In 2004 he joined ICASA as Manager: Broadcasting Spectrum. Here, he also served as an Advisor to Council on technical matters. He led a team on planning of the digital broadcasting plan for South Africa in the Regional Radio Communication Conference 2006 (RR-06). Calvo also served as an International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Planning Expert during the 2006 conference.
In 2007 he was appointed as Regulatory Affairs Manager at Orbicom. He continued to be involved in the technical aspects of regulation and all spectrum related issues with Orbicom. In 2007 he joined MWEB as GM Regulatory Affairs.
Calvo is registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa, and also a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers.
